It’s been a big couple of weeks for sporting events at Deloraine Primary School! We’ve had the Northern Midlands, our first school Tough Mudder event, and just this last weekend the Devonport School Basketball Tournament.

A Northern Midlands and Tough Mudder report including some great videos of the events were shown in End of Term 3 Assembly which was shared with parents on the School Stream app on the last day of Term 3 and can be viewed online here.

Members of our School Basketball team have shared with us below how their weekend went at the Devonport Basketball Tournament.

Devonport Warriors School Basketball Tournament 2020

Last weekend Deloraine Primary entered 2 teams into the Devonport Warriors School Basketball Tournament.
We had a 5/6 and 3/4 girls team. The 5/6 played at Devonport and the 3-4’s at East Devonport.
Our 3/4 team played against Ulverstone Primary, St Patricks College and Spreyton Primary. They won their first two games but lost the last game only by 10 points. They got into the semi-finals and played hard and lost but that’s okay because they really tried their best.

The 5/6’s played against Spreyton, Miandetta and St Josephs before they won the semi-final and played off against Spreyton in the grand-final.
We knew the grand-final was going to be tough. We all played really well and at three quarter time we were even. We kept pushing through and ended up losing by 6 points.
Everyone played their best and learnt heaps!

Both of our teams would like to thank our Coaches, Managers, Umpires and Bench organisers. Thanks to Ben, Pip, Neil, Oli, Susan and Fiona. They were so encouraging and pushed us to do our best.  Thank you to our parents and Mrs Atkins for supporting us as well.
We all had a great time and can’t wait to get back again, Go Deloraine!
