As a part of the Northern Midlands cluster of schools, Deloraine Primary School is involved in a variety of combined sporting activities across the year. The Grade 5-6 Winter Sports program is conducted weekly throughout terms two and three with students having the opportunity to play against other schools in the region. These sports include Netball, Hockey, Soccer and Football. Through participation in these activities students learn valuable skills of teamwork, perseverance, cooperation and leadership.
Weekly Physical Education lessons are held for students from Kinder to Grade 6 and focus on a variety of activities including ball skills, athletics, gymnastics, swimming, team sports and much more. Each year school carnivals are held for swimming and athletics as well as a cross country running event to give students a chance to show their skills and represent their Sports’ House, Rubicon (Blue), Meander (Yellow) and Quamby (Red). Closely aligned with the Australian Curriculum our Physical Education program benefits all students through promoting participation, healthy living choices, resilience and sportsmanship.
Students are also given an opportunity to represent the school in extra curricular sporting events such as Country Gold Hockey, Netball and Soccer, Schools Triathlon Challenge, All Schools Gymkhana, Schools Basketball Challenge and various Northern Midlands Sporting events.
